Our favorites from this wedding season

A gigging musician's office is always interesting. There’s always a new crowd for every wedding we perform at. Not to mention the great venues that were beautifully decorated for the occasion. We are certainly enjoying the fun of working at so many unique places as well as with different people! It has been a fruitful season for Uptown Strings, and here are some of our favorites!

TUNNEL MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR

This outdoor venue has a stunning backdrop of majestic peaks, pristine rivers, and alpine meadows filled with wildflowers! It's located directly behind Buffalo Mountain Lodge and offers expansive mountain views that are sure to impress everyone who comes! Our string duo had the opportunity to perform for a wedding here, serenading the guest during the ceremony and accompanying the bride as she walks down the aisle. It was absolutely a pleasant experience. Shoutout to the wedding planner Moments by Madeleine Weddings, who has planned such an extraordinary wedding with Kadie Hummel as the photographer and Janie (florist) for the event. The view, decorations, and photos were just pure amazing!

STEWART CREEK GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB

Another outdoor office with a fantastic backdrop of the Canadian Rockies! The facilities at Stewart Creek are perfect for intimate weddings year-round. Whether a huge party or a small gathering, the natural lighting, mountain views, and stunning art provide the ideal ambiance for your special day. Our string trio was performing here and it was such a joyful occasion to celebrate the marriage of Elise and Greg. Shout out to Kendal and Kevin for their amazing photography

PARK BY SIDEWALK CITIZEN

The park's century-old "Garden Rooms," located in the center of downtown Calgary, pay homage to the peaceful places people visit experience nature inside a metropolis. In Victorian times, these rooms were used for courtship. It is as lovely as it is romantic, flooded with natural light, exposed to the summer wind, and warmed by fires in the winter. Another location that is perfect for small gatherings. Jonathan and Darcy were performing for an intimate wedding as a String Duo that day, it was indeed one of our favorite venues to be performing at!

SILVERTIP RESORT, CANMORE

Mountain weddings in the Canadian Rockies always come with breathtaking scenery. Our string quartet was performing for a wedding here and we couldn’t ask for a more magnificent view for an office! We even had the luxury of enjoying some beer and wine before the gig. Not only we had a great time, but the wedding couple was also pleased with our music.

FAIRMONT CHATEAU LAKE LOUISE

The iconic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel is situated in Alberta's Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is known throughout the world for progressive environmental stewardship and responsible tourism. You wouldn’t want to miss coming to a place surrounded by towering mountain peaks, the majestic Victoria Glacier, and a glistening emerald lake! Shoutout to Lynn Fletcher Weddings for their outstanding planning for the wedding, every detail was so well thought out.

CALGARY GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB

We had our most recent performance here at the Calgary Golf and Country Club, and our string quartet was invited to perform for the wedding ceremony held in this breathtaking private club, established in 1897. It was also rated as one of the Top Golf Courses in the Country. The great thing about having your wedding in a golf club is that it is much more convenient to hold everything in one place!

Our string quartet, Subin, Joshua, Eileen, and Jeff were performing here for the wedding ceremony that day, performing a string quartet version of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” as the bride and father walks down the aisle. It was indeed another beautiful wedding, planned by Moments by Madeleine Weddings along with DJ & Lighting services from Pez Production and photography by Justine Milton.
