Our signature sound is shaped by inspirations from renowned string groups like The Vitamin String Quartet and The Turtle Island String Quartet. FAQs
How long do you play for?
Bookings are usually 1-3 hours. Bands will play 45-minute sets, or maybe even an hour, followed by an appropriate break. Of course, we are flexible and accommodate your event timeline.
Can I pick the songs you play?
Uptown Strings has an extensive repertoire list that is always growing that you can choose from for ceremony and first dances.
Will you learn a specific song by request?
Absolutely! We can have special musical arrangements done for your request for an additional, provided 30 days notice.
Do you need a stage?
A stage is always welcome, but it's not required.
When do you set up and how long does it take?
Setup takes about 30min with a small sound system.
What happens on set breaks?
We will provide an iPod playlist to play through our sound system during our break.
Do you provide your own sound?
Yes! We can supply a small sound system for an additional cost.
Can we use your microphones for speeches?
Yes, we can provide a wired microphone for use for your speeches and announcements.
Who will be at my event?
Uptown Strings prides itself on providing the best string musicians in town. Darcy Stamp will be the violinist for the Violin and guitar duo, Jazz trio, and pop solo violin. Our String Quartet, and Trio are composed of the roster of amazing string players. We really take our time hunting down and auditioning the members of the band to ensure that we maintain the highest calibre of talent across the board.
Do we need to provide meals for the group?
This will be arranged at the time of booking. We are always grateful for general hospitality such as cold beverages and coffee/tea.
Can we film you?
Yes! Feel free to share your love of Uptown Strings with all your friends!
Is there a deposit involved?
50% deposit is required at the time of booking, and the remaining balance due one week prior to function
How do I pay you?
Payment can be made by e-transfer or credit card.
